Détails

DHG Piuma Metallic combines the softness of 100% extra-fine merino wool yarn with an original metallic finish. A printing technique applies touches of color to the surface and transforms the texture of the yarn to give it this unique effect, while retaining a soft, woolly feel.

With approximately 60 meters per 50 g, this thick yarn adds character to knitted and crocheted creations, from jersey to textured or openwork patterns.

Composition & footage

Composition: 100% extra-fine merino wool. Format: 50 g. Length: approximately 60 metres per 50 g.

Yarn weights indicated by DHG: Chunky, Craft and Rug. The metallic finish is achieved by surface printing using powders, which changes the appearance and surface of the yarn while preserving its soft, woolly feel.

Each piece corresponds to one 50 g ball. The pack of 10 contains 10 balls of the same colour, for a total of 500 g.

Needles, crochet hook & gauge

Knitting gauge: 14 stitches and 19 rows in stockinette stitch for 10 × 10 cm. Crochet gauge: 14 stitches and 16 rows in single crochet for 10 × 10 cm.

Knitting: suitable for stockinette stitch as well as textured and lace patterns. As this yarn is thick, distribute textured elements evenly to avoid weighing down the fabric or creating asymmetries.

Crochet: single crochet produces a compact fabric; other stitches can also be used.

Weaving: DHG wove it on a comb-driven loom with a 20/10 reed, or 2 ends per centimeter. Its use is reserved for experienced weavers: the yarn is delicate, it can withstand weaving but not sudden jerks. Keep the reed close and handle it with care. Once woven, it produces a compact and soft result, ideal for fashion accessories or home décor projects.

Origin & Manufacturing

Raw materials from various origins, processed in Italy by DHG.

Care instructions

Pure wool yarns that are lightly twisted or untwisted tend to tighten slightly during the first few washes, without necessarily felting.

Before starting, knit a small swatch and test its care. DHG recommends trying a cold hand wash or, preferably, dry cleaning.

This step is particularly important when using large needles or very open lace stitches, so that you can adjust the needle size and the dimensions of the project accordingly.

Keep the yarn bands, cone, or at least the inner label until the end of the project. The dye lot number will allow you to request the same dye lot if needed, subject to availability. Different dye lots can produce visible color variations in the finished work, even if they appear imperceptible in the skeins.
